Nancy Burnett, Secretary – Northside Business Leaders & Contestant – Miss Senior Jacksonville

This month, I had an interview with Nancy Burnett. She is the Secretary/Treasurer for the Northside Business Leaders, and we hope, the next Miss Senior Jacksonville!

Nancy, and her husband, Steve, moved to Jacksonville 14 years ago from Charleston , North Carolina . Almost immediately, Nancy had a job as a legal secretary in the Gulf Life Building . She retired in 1994 with her list of things she wanted to do. She wanted to work in the community, especially with children. Soon after her retirement, she signed up with Big Brothers/Sisters.

Nancy became our Secretary/Treasurer in 2002, when the current Secretary/Treasurer had to move away from Jacksonville to follow her husband. Nancy has been the Northside Business Leader’s Secretary/Treasurer ever since then, and she has done a fabulous job!

Nancy is currently a contestant in the Miss Senior Jacksonville Pageant. The requirements for contestants are to be 60 years old, or older, and be a volunteer in the community. There are 9 contestants hoping for the title. The pageant is June 26, 2010 at 2 P.M. at the Times Union Center . You may vote for Nancy as many times as you wish at aseasonedaffair.com. Her hope is to represent Jacksonville , and go on to be in the Miss Senior Florida pageant. 

Right now, you may be asking yourself what Nancy does in her “spare time.” She enjoys playing with her two cats. She is a member of a Red Hat Group. Once a month, the members have a meeting and go to a variety of places. There are 21 members currently. Nancy has professed to have met many wonderful people with her volunteer work, the Red Hat Club, and the Northside Business Leaders.
